Our Itinerary

After meeting your guide your journey begins...

You will be astonished by the golden mosaics on the facade of Our Lady Basilica once arriving onto Piazza Di Santa Maria. The 1,584-year-old church holds eternal historical and cultural importance being one of the oldest churches dedicated to the Virgin Mary in the City of Rome. Once inside you will be able to appreciate Domenichino painting the 'Assumption of the Virgin', created in 1616 which adorns the wooden ceiling. The next destination will be heard before it is seen. Trilussa square located to the right of  Ponte Sisto, one of the most transit river bridges in Rome, will be filled with street musicians and cafe shops. Don’t let the crowd distract you from the Fountain of the Cento Preti, a tribute to Roman Poet Carlo Alberto Trillusa. Strolling through Piazza Trilussa on the way to Tiberina Island you will witness the beautiful narrow streets of Trastevere. After leaving the Trastevere neighborhood behind you will then cross Ponte Cestio, one of the two bridges connected to the Tiber Island. When arriving at the boat-shaped island you will instantly notice the quiet serenity that surrounds it. This marvelous rock went from being a facilitator of travel to a cult of the God of medicine to a hospital run by a religious order. The birth of this island is hidden in the million myths your guide will tell you all about. Then you will leave the peaceful environment of the healing Island to walk on Ponte Fabricio to the Jewish Ghetto. You will have the unique opportunity to admire the last five standing columns of the Porticus of Octavia, which originally was made up of three hundred columns. Standing in the very heart of Rome’s Jewish Ghetto the remains show the great impact of time and change. After you will walk towards the Marcello Theater, this “Jewish Colosseum” established in 13 BC hosted 15,000 spectators for acting, dancing, and singing acts. Look closely and you’ll see how this ancient building has been merged with a building. Look even closer and you’ll see the remains of the Temple of Apollo Sosianus that dates back to 431 B.C.This will conclude the tour of the longest-running home of the Jewish community in all of Europe.
